Geography Assignment

This project is an assignment for an individual. The scenario is fictitious, but allows you to apply your skills in map-reading.

Scenario:

You have just won $1,000,000 a year for life. For you, money is no object and so you decide to take a trip around the world. You must plan this trip, and leave detailed notes about where you will visit.

Criteria:

You must visit at least 8 cities, not including Toronto. You must visit a major city in each of the five continents. You must start and end your trip in Toronto. In additon to the places you choose to visit, you must include the following places:

Brisbane, Australia

Newcastle Upon Tyne, England

Sao Paulo, Brazil,

Capetown, South Africa

Vancouver, Canada

Chicago, USA

Your submitted assignment page will include the following:

  • Cities plotted on a world map, with the route and order of visit.
  • Distances travelled from place to place.
  • Method of travel from city to city.
  • A map showing the city in the country, near a geographical landmark, such as a river, lake, ocean or mountain range.
  • A photograph of at least two things of interest in that city.
  • The most efficient route will be noted. (marks will be deducted for wasteful travel plans)

Superior assignments will include extras, such as:

The name of the hotel you might stay, and the cost of the room

The cost of an event that you might visit in that city, such as the ticket price for an Olympic event in London.
