New spelling words are given each Monday

For parents: the basic homework schedule for homeroom is as follows:

  • Monday- Spelling
  • Tuesday- Math
  • Wednesday- Writing
  • Thursday - math and spelling test study
  • Every evening should include at least a half hour of sustained reading.

For students who wish to study for the scientific notation test, there are some resources listed below.

Scientific notation is a product of a number between 1 and 10 and a power of 10.

Try these questions.

Change a number to scientific notation

Note that 10^2 means

ten to the exponent 2, which is the same as ten squared.

Similarly, 3x10^4 means 3 times ten to the exponent 4, or 3 times 10,000

Change scientific notation to a number

4.29 x 10^0 =
4.29 x 10^1=

Conversion questions

Given that:

1 foot= 12"
3'= 1 yard
12"=2.54 cm
100cm = 1m

Convert the following to cm:

  • 17"
  • 31"

  • 4.3 x 10^-10 m
