This page shows leveled lessons to improve your skills with Google SketchUp. You will be given an assignment based on your level demonstrated in your first project. You will be expected to incorporate these new lessons into your next project.

Students working at a higher level may wish to review and incorporate lessons from the other levels. You must include the assigned elements in your next model.

Grade 7 and 8 Design and Technology Level 1 ... The most common mistake for students at this level was to make models that had incorrect measurements and relied on models made by others and imported from the warehouse. Reasoning ---> If you are assigned this lesson, it is expected that you have basic skills and will be able to expand on these by learning how to make accurate drawings with proper measurements. If you are assigned this lesson, your next model should include dimensions and measurements. You will not include pre-made models from the warehouse. Students at this level produced reasonable drawings but should learn how to show them from different angles. In SketchUp, this is accomplished using scenes. Reasoning ---> If you are assigned this lesson, you showed good basic skills and did not rely on the warehouse or an abundance of textures to make your model interesting. If you are assigned this lesson, your next model should include views using at least 3 scenes. Students at this level produce fairly accurate drawings. Their models are good but need visual interest. Reasoning ---> Two ways to improve visual interest are to: sue resl photos to decorate a surface Tina model, and to show different elements of deign while hiding others. If you are assigned this lesson, your next model should include at least one of these techniques.
