Curriculum Night is October 4th. Parents, please attend and meet your child's teachers.


New spelling words given Monday  This is week 4 of the September words.

For parents: the basic homework schedule for homeroom is as follows:

  • Monday- Spelling
  • Tuesday- Math
  • Wednesday- Writing
  • Thursday - math and spelling test study
  • Every evening should include at least a half hour of sustained reading.

Computer Buddy Day

Class schedule is now posted

Periods 1 and 2...Room 205

9:00 - 9:40 am
9:40 - 10:20 am

Grade 7: We will train in using saws and drills. Students who pass the basic safety tests will begin the Puppet Project. This assignment is posted on the Assignment page.

Grade 8: We will begin using hydraulics and pneumatics to control levers. Students will make a simple lever controlled by hydraulic pump. In pairs, students will then make a marble maze controlled by hydraulics. This assignment is posted on the Assignment page.


 

 

Periods 3 and 4 ...Room 32

10:35 - 11:15 am
11:15 - 11:45 am

Period 3: Last in-class period for 32 SketchUp modeling. This assignment is posted on the Assignment page.

Period 4: we will return to class to take notes about the rocket launches. This will serve as the basis for a lab report write-up.


Period 5

12:45 - 1:15 pm
Computer Buddy Day

We will meet our computer buddies today. This is a regular occurrence and we will be sharing our knowledge with grade one students. Much of this work will be math based.


Period 6...Room 32

History 1:15 - 1:55 pm

More notes about history, including taking notes about timelines.


Periods 7 and 8 ...Room 32

1:55 - 2:35 pm

2:50 - 3:30 pm

Similes, metaphors and figurative language as used in stories. This involves finding examples in books and writing them in your language book. This builds on the homework students should have completed from the weekend.

Spelling word homework from Monday: Spelling sentences for five of the words. Definitions for all ten words. Please include your source for the definitions. These should be written in your new language notebook, or kept in your language binder.

Copy the questions into your book and answer them there. Do not print the page if you do not need to. Do not submit the questions on the paper, rather, copy them into your math work book.
